Jason brings nearly two decades of professional service experience that his clients can count on to help them achieve their legal, administrative, and regulatory goals in an ever-increasingly competitive government-regulated arena.

Jason has an exemplary legal record including the representation of businesses, licensees, not-for-profits, and serving as the General Counsel for two different executive agencies, the Department of Elder Affairs (“Elder Affairs”) and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (“DBPR”).  He also served as Florida’s chief gaming and pari-mutuel attorney and as an assistant state attorney for the 2^nd Judicial Circuit.

In private practice, Jason has helped our clients navigate through the intricate web of regulatory red tape to meet their missions and goals, including: the creation and award of multimillion-dollar contracts, competitive procurement litigation, obtaining legislative appropriation to resolve legal disputes with state agencies, responding and representing clients in the face of disciplinary action, and resolving contractual disputes.

As the General Counsel for Elder Affairs and DBPR, Jason was entrusted with all legal matters pertaining to these agencies. Elder Affairs is the state of Florida’s agency responsible for the health, safety, and independence of millions of residents 60 and older.  Jason oversaw all legal matters for the service divisions, including the Long-Term Care Ombudsmen, the Office of Public and Professional Guardians, Servicing Health Insurance Needs of Elders (“SHINE”), and the Comprehensive Assessment and Review for Long-Term Care Services. These programs were often federal and state partnerships, which would require complex contract negotiations and settlement.

As General Counsel for DBPR, he served as the lead counsel and prosecutor for an agency of more than 1,800 employees that regulates 34 industries, including the divisions of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco; Drugs, Devices & Cosmetics; Pari-Mutuel Wagering; and Hotels and Restaurants.  During his time as general counsel, he managed a staff of more than 60 attorneys and was the lead or managing attorney for many significant cases, including: The State of Florida v. the Seminole Tribe of Florida, a federal case against a sovereign nation, and McLane Suneast v. DBPR, a multibillion-dollar cigarette tax constitutionality claim.

Prior to his legal career, Jason was an enlisted Airman in the United States Air Force. During his ten years of active-duty military service, he built a solid understanding of process and attention to detail.  While serving full-time in the USAF, Jason attended and graduated from Saint Leo University, Summa Cum Laude, and then received his law degree from the Florida State University, College of Law.
